Hey dolls! So it’s been a while. Football is officially back and we are 3 weeks in! I’ve been wanting to do a post for the last two weeks; but honestly, nonconference games, for the most part, have been a bore! There have been a couple of good games (like the TCU, Ohio State game, where the frogs fell apart the entire second half); but starting this week, the real games start, and the disdain for the rest of your conference begins.

This week, I will be traveling to Austin; not only for my birthday, but to watch the Frogs beat up on the Longhorns. I usually call UT “the traitor,” or another name not suitable for L&L. So with conference play starting, I thought this is the perfect time to start a new series: Touchdown Tuesdays! Every Tuesday, I will give y’all some insight on College Football and what the heck is actually going on.

To start this week off I am going to be re-posting my Guide to Gameday; in case you need a little refresher. (more…)

Happy Friday dolls! I hope y’all have had a great week! L&L is finally back up and running, just in time for the second addition of my Friday Five! I have picked some favorites that I have ordered this week, plus some things I have my eyes on.

Wedding season is officially upon us! From Scottsdale, AZ, to Houston, TX, to Eunice, LA; I have been in a total of 3 weddings. But I have attended 6 in the past nine months! I feel like I am at the age where the weddings are never ending, but I’m not upset about it. I LOVE weddings!  (more…)

Hey y’all! You might love or hate it, but Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! When I was single, Valentine’s Day was just another day in February for me, except my first valentine (Kevvy) would get me a cute card and candy (side note Paigey would also get me candy and a card)! When I got to college, my dad would also send me money (A+ valentine! I know he’s the best!). No matter what, I always knew I was getting something from him (and I still do).

So when Marshall and I started dating, I was SO excited to celebrate a real Valentine’s Day with someone. Let me give you a run down of the Valentine’s days throughout our relationship, and how wonderfully they turned out (hahaha NOT). (more…)

LUGGAGE TAG||

Christmas is over, the New Year is quickly approaching, and during the next few days there will be lots of football games being played. This frog fan is packing up and headed to the Alamo Bowl, but as I am leaving my house I am torn on how I feel about these special Holiday games, especially after watching several these last few days. I use to be very pro- bowl games, and extremely pro-playing your very best players in these last games. In the past few years though we have seen players who are trying to make it into the NFL sit out of their games (unless they were in the playoffs), in order to prepare for the NFL, and not to risk any injuries. Last year while being an intern for the Senior Bowl I watched players up to the night before the game back out of playing so the didn’t “risk” any injuries. On the other hand, I have seen players who choose to risk it all in their bowls and the Senior Bowl, go onto the NFL and do wonderful things (hello Dak Prescott).

So here is what I would tell these young men: “This is your last EVER college game to showcase your talents. If you think that scouts don’t watch these games, you are wrong. This game could be make-it-or-break-it when deciding whether or not to give you an invitation to the NFL draft. Go run out of that tunnel one more time with your team and show everyone what YOU are made of!!”

Ultimately it’s the players’ decision on whether they want to play or sit out. At the end of the day, the players will make the choice that is best for them, and their future. I wish all of these young men the best of luck in all of their endeavors.

I want to leave you guys with this question: Should we even have all these bowl games, or just eliminate them as a whole and only have the playoffs? What do y’all think? Let me know in the comments section below!

Okay y’all, so I am the world’s WORST about eating healthy over the Holidays, but this year I’ve been trying really hard to eat right. Normally, I would be shelling these pecans for my mom so she can make chocolate covered pecans (seriously, they are SOOOO good), but today I am going to make the smart decision to resist these lovely snacks. So today’s post is about eating this and not that over the holidays!

Eat This Not That

Breakfast:

EAT a breakfast taco NOT breakfast casserole

EAT oatmeal and brown sugar NOT donuts

Main Dish:

EAT turkey NOT prime rib

EAT cauliflower pizza NOT late night Dominos

EAT zucchini pasta with pesto NOT pasta and red sauce

Sides/Appetizers:

EAT cauliflower mash NOT mashed potatoes

EAT shrimp cocktail NOT shrimp dip

EAT veggies and hummus NOT veggies and ranch dip

Desserts:

EAT candied pecans NOT chocolate covered pecans

EAT oatmeal raisin cookies NOT chocolate chip cookies

EAT coconut cream pie NOT key lime pie (this one shocked me!)

Now I know it’s not easy to eat healthy all the time, and we will all deserve to splurge every now and then; so if you want the chocolate chip cookie, eat the cookie!! The most important part of the Holidays is being with friends and family, not what you’re doing or what you are eating. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

PS: If y’all have any other “eat this not that” tips feel free to message me, or leave me a comment!

Okay y’all if you know me you know I am obsessed with all things poms! While I was home in Houston, my mom and I spotted these bad boys at Macy’s!

||Merry Christmas Garland|Pompom Garland||

(I promise the Merry Christmas matches the poms in person!)

I was all over them like white on rice. I have a huge window in my house in Fort Worth, so I always like to have little festive things hanging from it. Then we found this wreath.

Holiday Lane pom wreath

It was the same brand as my garland, and matched everything perfectly!  The only downfall was, it was $55 on SALE! My mom was like oh no Caroline, we can make this. Many YouTube tutorials later and a few trips to Hobby Lobby, here is my finished product!

It was surprisingly easy. So here is my own little tutorial on how to make this cute little pompom wreath.

HOW TO MAKE A POMPOM WREATH

What you need:

Yarn of all different colors

A wire wreath

SHARP scissors

Cardboard

A cup

2 toilet paper holders

2 paper towel holders

A box or towel to catch your mess (it does get VERY MESSY)

Step 1: Use your cardboard and cup to cut out two little perfect circles. On my wreath I have several different sized so I had 3 sets of different sized circles.

IMG_0830.jpg

(clearly I am not that great at cutting perfect circles hahahaha)

Step 2: Pick out which yarn you want to use first and cut about a 6 inches to a foot off.

Step 3: Grab your toilet paper holders. Place the end of the yarn in between the two holders and start wrapping

IMG_0839IMG_0840IMG_0841

Step 4: Wrap the yarn around the 2 toilet paper holders for larger poms 200 times and for smaller poms 140 times

IMG_0820

Step 5: Grab the yarn you cut in step 2, and bring it up in between the 2 toilet paper holders and tie it

IMG_0824IMG_0823

Step 6: Gently slide out the toilet paper holders and tie the string in a tight knot

IMG_0825IMG_0827

Step 7: Cut the loops of the poms so that they are strings and not loops. (Don’t worry they look really ugly and floppy right now, but it’ll get better)

IMG_0828IMG_0829

Step 8: Grab the cardboard circles from step 1 and your box (This is when things start to get messy!!) Then put the long string from where you tied the knot through the hole at the top, and place the other circle on the bottom of the pom right below the upper circle. Then start trimming off all the little strings that are hanging off the sides. Make sure you keep the long strings where you can see them (I wrapped them around my finger), because you don’t want to cut those off.

IMG_0831IMG_0832IMG_0845

Step 9: Flip the pom over to its side and repeat step 8 until your pom looks the way you want it.

IMG_0834IMG_0835IMG_0836

(I tucked my long strings under the cardboard so I knew I wasn’t cutting them)

Step 10: Repeat these steps until you have enough poms to fill your wreath.

IMG_0818

Step 11: Use the long stings you were careful not to cut to tie the poms to your wreath

IMG_0868IMG_0875IMG_0882

(Shoutout to Paigey (my mom) for helping me get all my poms tied on)

Step 12: once you have all the poms tied on go back and cut off the long stings

Then you are done! You have a perfect pompom wreath to hang on your door!
