Hey y’all! You might love or hate it, but Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! When I was single, Valentine’s Day was just another day in February for me, except my first valentine (Kevvy) would get me a cute card and candy (side note Paigey would also get me candy and a card)! When I got to college, my dad would also send me money (A+ valentine! I know he’s the best!). No matter what, I always knew I was getting something from him (and I still do).
So when Marshall and I started dating, I was SO excited to celebrate a real Valentine’s Day with someone. Let me give you a run down of the Valentine’s days throughout our relationship, and how wonderfully they turned out (hahaha NOT). Rewinding back to 2016; Marshall and I were both living in Fort Worth, and had been officially dating for about 6 months. When the big day rolled around, Marshall ended up in the hospital with a really bad sinus infection. I still have the screen shots on my phone of when he texted me and told me that; which I promptly sent to all my girlfriends so we could talk crap about how he wasn’t telling the truth (sorry Marsh). The next picture on my phone is a photo of him signing all of his discharge papers, because of course I told him he was lying (so sweet of me I know). Now, onto 2017 Valentine’s day. Marshy boy lived in Austin and I was still in Fort Worth trying to gradate; but major plot twist: on February 10th, after one of my sorority’s mixers, I ended up in urgent care with strep in my kidneys, mono, and a sinus infection. I missed 8 weeks of school; needless to say we did not do anything for Valentines Day last year. I will give Marshy this; both years he sent me a card, chocolate, and some kind of gift card. Last year, he sent me a gift card to the BEST nail salon in the fort as well as a a massage at my fave spa.
After both of those fiascos I told Marsh we, at LEAST had to go to dinner this year, but on the 15th, I will be headed to Colorado for one my best girl’s bachelorette parties. So marshy boy and I won’t be doing anything too crazy, because I am the queen of packing procrastination; and I am positive that I will be scrambling to get my suitcase ready to go on the night of February 14th. So, I am officially over the whole lovey dovey Valentine’s Day. This year it’s going to be all about “treat yo self!” You don’t need anyone to make your Valentines’ Day special except for yourself (and maybe your dad). Hahaha! So below find the gift guide of my favorite things I will be getting for MYSELF this Valentines Day. Remember girlies: TREAT YO SELF!
